Volunteer:

  • Opportunities for Service: Opportunities abound for volunteer service to Unity of the Shenandoah. Service is a powerful way to express the Christ in you through your talent, ideas and special gifts. It's a great way to express your joy and enthusiasm for having found our wonderful spiritual community. It's also a great way to serve your community as well as an opportunity to get to know US better. You will enrich yourself as well as others.

  • Spiritual Cinema: Volunteers are needed for the Adult Activity Team. We are seeking ways to provide activities to enrich our spiritual community as well as to provide opportunities for US to enjoy fellowship together. We have access to movies and documentaries from the Spiritual Cinema Circle, as well as other inspirational movies. We are excited by the possibilities. If you would like to be a part of a team to plan or host these activities at our church, please let Rev. Dianne or any member of the Board know.

  • Help Wanted: Volunteers are needed on Sundays to help record the service. Charlie and Chris Youngs have been doing it, but Charlie is also in the choir, and Chris’ mom wants him to attend Sunday school. We’re told that procedures are in place, everything is labeled, and it’s pretty straight forward. If you would like to see the service from a different perspective (the balcony), and can help in this way, please let Charlie Youngs or anyone on the Board know.

  • Bookstore: Volunteers are needed to help set up the bookstore. If this is something Spirit is calling you to do, please see Rev. Dianne or Karen Hade.

  • Wanted:

Phone System Installation- A phone system has been donated by Ted Lesley and we're looking for someone with telephone installation experience to hook it up We'd like to have a couple of lines available in the office, a line to record the Daily Word, and a line upstairs. Please see Babs Vance if you can help.

Adult Activities Coordinator. Are you interested in having social, entertainment, and support programs at Unity of the Shenandoah? Some ideas are: theater and/or movie nigh; classes, seminars and workshops; crafts, luncheons and socials.

A couple of people have volunteered to help on the team, and we would like a few more. Would you be willing to work with a team to help coordinate these activities? If so, please see Rev. Dianne or Karen Hade.

  • Librarian: We are delighted to announce that Kerstin Budlong has volunteered to be our Librarian. Plans are underway to establish a library in early 2005. If you would like to help with the library, please see Kerstin or Karen Hade.

  • Landscaping: Much progress has been made thanks to the generosity (and perspiration) of many people. The fountain has been installed in the serenity garden, and looks and sounds wonderful. The arbor is also in and the clematis is already growing on it. The bench, embellished with stained glass dragonflies, is very inviting. Plants, flowers and shrubs have been planted (some removed), and a Peace Pole, donated by Kerstin Budlong, will soon be installed near the front entrance. Our church property is being transformed before our very eyes! There's a list of chores that need to be done. If you would like to help, please contact Bob Camp
